Corgan Rarities & Oddities
Billy Corgan, the kind of name that can make a hipster indie-kid's skin crawl, is about to release his latest record, this time once again under the Smashing Pumpkins name. I, for one, am excited, for once you get over the man himself, the publicity hound, the jack-assary, the self-indulgence, the baldness, the makeup and the breakups, there is always some good music to be heard. His last two projects had just enough key tracks to make them relevant, (with Zwan being particularly good and underrated), and, judging from the bootlegged live shows, the new album will at least fair the same.
Anyway, as everyone knows, Zeitgeist comes out on July 10th, and is the first album in 7 years to be released by "The Smashing Pumpkins", with only Billy and Jimmy Chamberlin returning. The current tour and upcoming album are the results of the statements made by Billy in this full-page Chicago Times ad, printed on the day TheFutureEmbrace album came out in 2005 (click to read):
The album will be released in multiple formats, with multiple retailers having exclusive bonus tracks. Read Pitchfork's to-the-point opinion of this here. Apart from what Pitchfork details, there will also be separate releases with bonus DVD, Deluxe Booklet, different colors etc.
In preparation for the new record, I have compiled some of the best and most interesting obscure and unreleased tracks from (the real) Smashing Pumpkins all the way up through "the solo era" of Zwan and including one particularly hard-to-find gem, Billy Corgan's "Tilt".

THanks for posting these links! I have been trying to hunt down Tilt for so long...
Me too!! It's ridiculous how hard it is to find Tilt. They don't even sell it on iTunes anymore! There's no way to get it without swiping it from somebody! Come on now. But yeah, thanks for posting it.
glad you could find it here - and yeah, i wouldn't even have it if not for a friend of mine who found it a couple of years ago on some obscure compilation cd at Target, of all places!

thanks, i've been trying to track down the rest of the Pumpkins b-sides that weren't on Pisces Iscariot or Aeroplane, and they are surprisingly hard to find.
